Charity Flood Relief Workshops

In March, Bryonia headed out to @nourishgardens on Waiheke island to run some charity workshops. We celebrated coming together, enjoying autumn flowers and supporting one another, whilst also raising an incredible amount through expressing our creative individuality.

The first few months of the year of horrific weather decimated New Zealand and its communities. Cyclone Gabrielle hit and caused a huge amount of destruction. Yet another State of Emergency was issued, after one just a week prior. Many people have lost their homes, loved ones, personal belongings, crops, and it will take a long time to repair the infrastructure here.

Personally, I was very fortunate to escape relatively unscathed, minus the power cuts and flooding where I was staying. But I’ve visibly seen the storms impact on the areas around me, and witnessed how hard it’s hit the flower growers after an already tough season.

I wanted to help make a difference by hosting some Charity Flood Relief Workshops, and some of my photography captures of the day can be seen below…

And a video of the day’s highlights…

We managed to raise a grand total of over $1,800 and all profits made from the day were shared equally with the Nourish Gardens Flower Growers Fund & Red Cross New Zealand Disaster Fund, so they could be dispersed between multiple support groups.

Thank you to all who came, and to our growers for their seasonal bounties @stateofbloomnz @emerdenflowers @garden_on_the_hill - couldn’t have done it without you!

Catch up with you again soon,

Jenna
