September’s Theme - Peace
Another month passes, and I’m continuing to studying and investigating some deeper themes in relation to running a floral business. Inner peace seems to be a prevalent thought in my mind at the moment, particularly as I am struggling to keep hold of the feeling.
Creating peace within ourselves is so important, not just for our personal well-being but also for professional success. If I am peaceful, then I can typically approach things calmly with a composed thought process, and I can ease the feelings of stress that often accompany the challenges and demands of running a business.
Challenging external factors and inconveniences seem to be much easier managed when I am in a state of peace, allowing me to navigate through them with softness and resilience. Finding ways to cultivate inner peace has become a priority for me, as I strive to maintain a harmonious balance between my work, personal life, and the pursuit of my passion for flowers.
A key areas of focus for finding peace is the urgency to document Bryonia’s growth, development or creations on an almost daily basis. Having time away in New Zealand has eased that urge immensely, mainly as over there things were much slower paced.
Now that I’m back, I want to ensure that Bryonia doesn’t get swept up in the glorification of being busy and ‘hustle culture’ that surrounds us, so I’m considering how best to continue Bryonia’s flowering journey without creating unnecessary demands, and by pursuing whichever elements I enjoy the most.
So for the last couple of months, I’ve ensured time for myself. Either a small moment of active rest whilst taking a walk with Oscar, the dog, or a larger break when celebrating a friend’s birthday or wedding, or a camper trip to the Isle of Skye. You don’t need to reward yourself with peace or restful moments. I feel it’s rather the best approach to intrinsically wind them throughout your days, ensuring that you have the space to pause.
My diary for next year is beginning to fill, but instead of back to back blocking things out the way I always used to see ‘success’, I’ll be taking much more considered and slow moments next year.
If you sign up to our monthly Bryonia HQ updates, then you’re set to receive next month’s theme focus first.
Hope to see you there,
